HOK expands interiors leadership team in Chicago

HOK has announced the promotions of three interior design leaders in its Chicago studio. The three—Sarah Oppenhuizen, AIA, LEED AP, WELL AP, Mike Goetz, AIA, IIDA, LEED AP and Javier Buscaglia-Pesquera, AIA, LEED AP BD+C—have extensive expertise in design, project management and operations.

Oppenhuizen is the new director of interiors in Chicago. She has been with HOK for more than a decade and is overseeing the interiors group and its design work while continuing to expand the successful practice.

Goetz has joined HOK’s Chicago interiors practice as a senior project designer after transferring from the firm’s Los Angeles studio. Since joingin HOK in 2008, he has provided design leadership for several of the firm’s award-winning interiors projects.

Buscaglia-Pesquera has been promoted to director of operations, interiors. Buscaglia-Pesquera, who has managed a wide variety of projects since joining HOK in 2015, is guiding the day-to-day operations of the interiors studio.

HOK’s current and recent projects in Chicago include the new offices for WPP in the West Loop, the renovation and expansion of the Chicago Bears’ training facility, Halas Hall, in Lake Forest, the new law offices for Polsinelli Chicago and the expansion of the international terminal at O’Hare International Airport.
