Illinois CCIM Chapter announces community caring event

The Illinois Chapter of the Certified Commercial Investment Member Institute is hosting its Community Caring In Motion event on Saturday, Sept. 22. According to Lloyd Berry, the Chicago Chapter president, (and a vice president with Colliers), the event is a new initiative the Illinois CCIM Chapter has planned to encourage members to give back to the community.

Following the financial generosity of one of its members, the institute is making an impassioned plea to the real estate community to donate three hours of their day for the benefit of thousands of people who find themselves in need of assistance to put meals on the table.

“Two weeks ago our focus was on raising money that would buy supplies that would feed thousands of children and needy families in the Chicago metropolitan area,” Berry said. “Today, because of an extremely generous donation, we now are aggressively seeking volunteers to donate three hours of their day to make feeding over 50,000 needy people in the Chicago metropolitan area a reality.”

Berry is putting out the call to the real estate community, whether they are a member of the Illinois CCIM Chapter or not, and inviting them to participate.

“The real estate community always has been extremely generous in donating its time, talent and financial resources to helping those who are less fortunate,” Berry said. “A donor member has done the hard part, opening his checkbook and giving a significant gift. Now it’s up to the rest of us to give a little bit of our Saturday to help those in need.”

The work will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 1800 Howard St., Unit H, in Elk Grove Village. All volunteers will receive a t-shirt, lunch and other refreshments — items that are being donated by Aldi and others.
