The coworking ecosystem has shifted again as Industrious has acquired Assemble, a Chicago-based shared workspace provider. The deal will include 42,000 square feet of office space and all three of the Assemble offices: Wicker Park, Old Town and West Loop.
Founded in New York in 2013, Industrious provides premium coworking and flexible workplace solutions to established companies and enterprises ranging from small businesses to Fortune 500 brands, including household names such as Lyft, Hyatt, Pandora and Chipotle. The company has seen extraordinary growth in the past year, now operating over 50 coworking spaces in 33 cities nationwide. This acquisition will double Industrious’ Chicago presence as the company currently runs three offices in Chicago: Evanston, Fulton Market and River North.
“Assemble is a powerful asset to our growth in the Chicago market and we look forward to welcoming Assemble members into our diverse and growing network of national leaders,” said Jamie Hodari, co-founder and CEO of Industrious. “This is a really unique opportunity to not only build on the vibrant coworking spaces that Assemble has already created, but also to greatly increase our presence in Chicago.”
“We are excited to work with the Industrious team to realize our shared vision for what coworking can be,” said Phil Domenico, co-founder and CEO at Assemble. “Chicago is home to an extraordinarily dynamic business community, and we see an immense opportunity for these three coworking spaces to flourish.”
