Joan Kaufman, chief executive officer of Naperville, Illinois-based Interior Planning & Design, Inc., will be named as Fellow by the American Society of Interior Designers this summer.
The American Society of Interior Designers will elevate five members as Fellows for 2015. The new Fellows will be inducted at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts on July 18 as part of the “Celebration: The ASID Awards Gala” event. The ASID annually grants fellowship to design professionals who have made significant contributions to the interior design industry.
Kaufman is a certified Feng Shui practitioner and incorporates the practice into her residential and commercial designs. She studied art and architectural studies at the Loyola University Rome Center and earned two bachelor’s degrees in interior design and art from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Kaufman served on the National Board in 2013, was a National Committee Chair from 2011 to 2013, a Leadership Trainer in 2012 and member of the Audit Committee, Strategic Planning Committee and Chapter Support Teams.
She served as Illinois Chapter president in 2009-2010 and is currently the chair Interior Design Board for IDFPR.
