William Levy

IREM’s Chicago Chapter has appointed William Levy as its 2024-2025 regional vice president. As regional vice president, Levy will also serve the regions of Minnesota and Wisconsin.

IREM’s Regional Vice Presidents are a critical connection between IREM® headquarters and its chapters and among the chapters within their regions. They leverage their knowledge and experience to help grow the IREM brand and membership,  and help raise IREM’s outreach in the region and within the real estate community.

In the dynamic realm of property management, few figures stand out as prominently as William J. Levy CPM. With a remarkable 50-year career in the industry, Levy has not only managed an impressive 295,000 student leases nationwide but has also left an indelible mark on the landscape of real estate and education. As the CEO of BMOC Inc., a national firm specializing in institutional investments and real estate assets, Levy’s influence extends far beyond the boardroom, reaching into the realms of academia, community development, and innovation.

Levy’s journey in property management is intricately interwoven with his commitment to education. Having taught at the esteemed University of Wisconsin and served on the board for the School of Real Estate at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, Levy is not merely a practitioner but a thought leader in the field. His instructional role at the Institute of Real Estate Management further underscores his dedication to shaping the next generation of real estate professionals.

Founded in 1984, BMOC Inc. has flourished under Levy’s visionary leadership. Specializing in institutional investments and real estate assets, the firm manages communities across the nation, dealing with diverse property types ranging from high-rise mixed-use buildings to student apartments, military housing, commercial investments, and conventional apartments. With a portfolio exceeding four billion dollars, Levy emphasizes lifestyle development, transforming living spaces into vibrant communities that offer a spectrum of services, including food, housekeeping, maintenance, fitness, and concierge services.

Levy’s influence extends well beyond the confines of the real estate market. Actively engaged in the community, Levy’s recent announcement of holding the title of Regional Vice President of the Institute of Real Estate Management in 2024 is a testament to his leadership and influence. The first person from the Madison WI chapter to hold this prestigious position, Levy’s commitment to community development is further highlighted by his decade-long tenure as the President of the local IREM Madison Chapter, where he still serves on the Board of Directors.

Levy’s impact on the community is not limited to his professional endeavors. Having run for the 79th District State Assembly seat and participated in organizations such as ApartmentRenting.com and the Madison Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, Levy is deeply invested in the civic and political fabric of Madison. His role in preserving an original Frank Lloyd Wright structure showcases his commitment to preserving architectural heritage, ensuring that the city’s legacy endures for future generations.

Bill Levy’s roots in the real estate industry trace back to his upbringing in Allen and O’Hara and Northwestern Mutual Life Investment Fund in student housing. This foundational experience provided him with a unique perspective on the student housing sector, setting the stage for his later success in managing 295,000 student leases nationwide. In addition to his practical experience, Levy’s academic journey includes attending the MBA program, further enriching his understanding of business and real estate.

Levy’s contributions to the field have not gone unnoticed. With four national awards from IREM for marketing and manuals, his recognition in the book “Successful Property Managers” underscores his standing as a luminary in the industry. His graduate education at the University of South Florida, where he earned a double major in Marketing and Marketing Education, coupled with his Executive CPM certification from the Institute of Real Estate Management, solidify Levy’s credentials as a leader in student housing and apartment marketing.

Under Levy’s guidance, BMOC Inc. has garnered international acclaim. Winning the national Innovative Award, competing with property management firms worldwide, attests to the company’s commitment to groundbreaking solutions. Additionally, two design awards in Wisconsin further highlight BMOC Inc.’s excellence in property development, showcasing Levy’s dedication to creating aesthetically pleasing and functional living spaces.
