James T. Barry III President Cassidy Turley Barry Milwaukee, WI
Jim Barry III is an integral part of Cassidy Turley Barry’s sales team and is one of the driving forces in the Southeast Wisconsin commercial real estate market. His experience includes industrial, office and investment brokerage, sale/leasebacks, tenant representation, confidential acquisitions, site selection, consulting, as well as providing expert witness testimony.
Barry has been involved in some of the region’s largest and most complex transactions, many of which have shaped the state of the real estate market in the region. Barry was instrumental in bringing the Harley Davidson/Briggs & Stratton transaction to a successful end in 1997, which kept an 857,000-square-foot industrial building from sitting vacant in Menomonee Falls, Wis.
More recently, he was a member of the team that turned a vacant 55-acre parcel of land plagued by environmental challenges into an industrial park owned by First Industrial. The park now has a 388,000-square-foot build-to-suit distribution center leased to QuadGraphics. Barry’s insights and ability to negotiate challenging transactions to a successful closing have won him recognition from the Commercial Association of Realtors of Wisconsin, BizTimes Milwaukee, Corporate Report Wisconsin, The Business Journal of Milwaukee and others.
Barry is an expert in both legal and real estate topics, having spoken before such organizations as State Bar of Wisconsin, National Business Institute, Institute of Real Estate Management, Institute of Property Taxation and Marquette University’s Graduate School of Business. His articles have been published in The University of Chicago Law Review, Wisconsin Lawyer, BizTimes and other publications. He is consistently called upon by local and regional publications to offer his insights for stories about the Southeast Wisconsin commercial real estate market.
In addition to his brokerage experience, Barry is actively involved in numerous civic and professional activities, serving on the boards of several of the area’s most influential organizations. In the past, his leadership skills earned him the role of president of Rotary Club of Milwaukee, chairman of Public Policy Forum of Milwaukee, chairman of UW-Milwaukee Board of Visitors, chairman of American Red Cross of Southeast Wisconsin and director of Milwaukee Athletic Club. He also served as president of Commercial Association of Realtors of Wisconsin, chairman of the Commercial-Industrial Committee of Wisconsin Realtors Association and chairman of American Bar Association Committee on Brokers and Brokerage.
