Cresa Chicago client, the Jewish Council for Youth Services, has purchased a building in Bucktown from Thomas S. Shure. The 9,600-square-foot building, plus a 3,150-square-foot adjacent lot, is located at 2129 W. North Ave. It will serve as a JCYS Family Center.
Cresa Chicago Vice President Liz Roberts — who also serves on the executive committee of the board of directors of JCYS — and Managing Partner Allen Rogoway represented JCYS in the deal. Financial terms of the purchase are not disclosed.
“For more than five years, we have been searching for the right location to satisfy our requirements. It was a challenge finding the ideal property best suited to helping JCYS satisfy its mission,” said Jason Malkin, acting executive director of JCYS. “We are very pleased with the hard work and patience Cresa Chicago provided.”
JCYS is evaluating a variety of plans to potentially renovate and remodel the space, which is scheduled to open in fall 2015 and will be named the Michael R Lutz Family Center. The new center will offer educational, recreational and leadership experiences that grow along with each child — nurturing their individual spirits, imaginations, confidence and talents. The programs are for children ranging from infants to tweens and teens. JCYS was founded in 1907 and has locations in Chicago, Buffalo Grove, Highland Park and Ingleside.
