Kraus-Anderson has begun a $114.5 million expansion of Friendship Village, a senior living campus located at 8100 Highwood Drive in Bloomington, Minnesota. The renovation will include a three-story health center, three-story skilled nursing building and five-story residential living building.
Owned by Lifespace Communities, the project will add a new independent living building with 93 apartments alongside a variety of services and amenities. Additionally, the 1.75-acre expansion will include a new health center building with a state-of-the-art physical and occupational therapy gym, memory care suites and assisted living apartments.
Designed by Northbrook, Illinois-based SAS Architects, renovations will also be made to Friendship Village’s current health center to redesign all skilled nursing and rehab suites. These additions and updates coincide with an expected increase in demand for senior living options locally. According to the Metropolitan Council, more than 20 percent of all Twin City residents will be age 65 or older by 2040.
Construction is expected to be completed in the fall of 2022.
