On Saturday January 25th, more than 300 commercial real estate professionals and friends will gather for the 2nd Annual Kristensen Boxing Smoker at the Palmer House Hilton, where boxers from the U.S. Naval Academy will take on Chicago Golden Gloves Champions in eight bouts. The event is sponsored by Related Midwest, LendLease, F.E. Moran, The Telos Group, Colliers International and Riverside Investment and Development.
The event honors U.S. Navy SEAL Erik Kristensen and is co-hosted by high school classmate, Michael Marrion (Colliers International Chicago), and U.S. Navel Academy classmate and fellow Navy SEAL, Mike Martin (Herndon Capital). On June 28, 2005, Kristensen and his men, responding to a call from fellow SEALs that they were under attack, boarded a helicopter in eastern Afghanistan. That helicopter was tragically downed by enemy fire and three of the four-man team were killed. Marcus Luttrell was the lone survivor. Their story, and the story of Operation Red Wings, was retold in the book and 2013 movie, Lone Survivor.
Guests will enjoy a sit-down dinner and live auction with one-of-a-kind items up for bid. All money raised will endow a scholarship at St. Ignatius College Prep in Chicago in honor of Kristensen and will support the children of Chicago Police and Fire Department and military personnel. Special guests include professional boxer Mike Lee, as well as U.S. Marine Edward Schrank who will sing the national anthem.
