Lee & Associates of Illinois has tapped long-time real estate veteran, Douglas Altenberger, to join its industrial team. As executive vice president, he will work on sales and leasing across multiple disciplines.
Altenberger began his commercial real estate career in 1992. For the last few years, he was a principal with Stonegate Properties where he developed and managed more than 1 million square feet of commercial and office space and more than 250,000 square feet of retail space in the Chicagoland area—including the area’s first “restaurant park” at I-90 and Barrington Road, consisting of five chain restaurants. He also oversaw all aspects of development, including financing, construction and execution of leases.
Altenberger earned his bachelor’s degree from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, majoring in finance. He was a member of the Fighting Illini basketball team and was drafted in the third round by the Chicago Bulls. He also represented the United States in the European World Cup in Barcelona, Spain. More recently, he worked as a radio announcer for Illini Hoops.
