In its second move in 26 years and third in its 60-year history, Syd Jerome, the luxury menswear store, has relocated to a 7,300-square-foot, two-level ground floor location at 20 N. Clark Street, an office tower in Chicago’s Central Loop. The move will provide twice the space of the retailer’s previous location.
Paul Gaines, managing director of asset management and Paul Einum, director of asset management, Chicago, for Accesso and Todd Siegel, senior vice president with CBRE in Chicago represented the ownership of 20 N. Clark. Andrew Davidson, executive vice president of MB Real Estate, Chicago, represented the haberdashery in the 15-year lease.
“Deciding to move from 2 North LaSalle was not an easy decision,” said Scott Shapiro, owner of the haberdashery and son of the founder. “We spent nearly a year searching for the ideal high-traffic location at a prestige Loop address where we could provide an even more curated, customized and personalized shopping experience to customers from all over the world.”
The new store will occupy 4,300 square feet on the first floor and 3,700 square feet on the lower leve, at the corner of Madison and Clark. The space was designed by architect Lori Mukoyama of Gensler Chicago and features compartmentalizing of the ground floor space while the lower level houses a tailor shop, event space and seasonal storage. 41 North Contractors of Chicago built out the space.
