Matthew Cotherman joins Principle Construction Corp as a project manager

Principle Construction Corp. has hired Matthew Cotherman as a project manager. In his new role, Cotherman will be providing direction for several projects including: General RV’s Parking Lot expansion in Huntley, a 16,500-square-foot expansion in Woodridge, Illinois, a new 63,578-square-foot manufacturing and office facility in Elmhurst, Illinois and a 39,700-square-foot tenant improvement in Buffalo Grove, Illinois.

Cotherman has worked in the construction industry or more than 16 years, most recently as a project manager in the Chicago office of a Japanese construction company.

“Matt has worked on projects large and small across all property types and is well-versed in leading teams to success,” James Brucato, president of Principle Constructions Corp., said. “We’re looking forward to working with him in his new role at Principle.”

Cotherman has worked as a construction manager or superintendent for several companies throughout Illinois and the Midwest and has even worked as a self-employed construction manager on projects in Chicago, New York and Las Vegas. Some of the highlights of his career include working on a multi-story office build-out, office conversion, warehouse distribution facility and new manufacturing facility for a healthcare client, and managing the construction of a $16.5 million molding plant in Indiana.

He also led tenant improvements for more than $13 million in projects for retailer Marc Jacobs in Manhattan, Las Vegas and Chicago, and worked on more than $20 million in tenant improvements of office and laboratory space for Sysmex throughout Chicago’s northern suburbs. He previously worked in residential construction, completing the building of more than 150 homes in Indianapolis, Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio throughout his career.

Cotherman holds a bachelor’s degree in building construction management from Purdue University. He completed a 30-Hour OSHA Certification Renewal and has served as a member of the Green Building Committee and the International Safety and Quality Control Committee.
