MB Real Estate (MBRE) is helping to spread breast cancer awareness in Chicago through the “Go Pink” campaign. Throughout the month of October, the firm’s headquarter office building, 181 W. Madison will be lit pink in support of the Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation and National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
“Early detection is the key when it comes to breast cancer,” said Krystal Kurinsky, senior vice president of Asset Management for MBRE. “Lighting the property pink is our way of raising awareness and showing support for the millions of breast cancer survivors in the country as well as honoring the memories of those who lost their battle with this insidious disease.”
According to the American Cancer Society’s most recent estimates, an estimated 232,340 new cases of invasive breast cancer were expected to be diagnosed among women in 2013, as well as an estimated 64,640 additional cases of in situ breast cancer. Of those diagnosed, it was expected that approximately 39,620 women would die from breast cancer. Only lung cancer accounts for more cancer deaths in women. Additionally, about 2,240 men were expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013, with approximately 410 deaths as a result.
