McShane Construction Company has completed the comprehensive renovation and new construction services for Eden Supportive Living, a 150-unit supportive living development in Champaign.
Developed by owner/operator Mitch Hamblet, president and founder of Eden Supportive Living, the eight-story residential complex is located at 222 N. State St. and offers integrated supportive housing and services to persons with disabilities between the ages of 22 and 64 years. Providing a bridge between supervised care and independent living environments, supportive living communities accommodate residents who are able to live independently but who benefit from readily available access to a wide range of support services and resources, if needed.
McShane Construction utilized the existing structure and frame of the property, formerly a five-story building, as the base structure for the eight-story residence. The assignment included the new construction of three additional floors that were added to the existing five-story facility. In addition, McShane completed the new construction of a 40,000-square-foot, eight-story tower that was adjoined to the existing building on the north end of the property.
The completed multi-family residential redevelopment incorporates 117,000 square feet of living and amenities space to support 150 residents within the studio and one-bedroom units. McShane Construction also completed a contemporary, two-story glass atrium and an outdoor reflection pool with an eight-story water feature cascade. Eden Supportive Living also features spacious, modern apartments, multiple community lounges, a full-service training kitchen, dining facilities, library, theatre, cyber café, activity center, medical suite and laundry facilities. Housing, nursing support, wellness programs, daily meals and 24-hour emergency support are also available.
“McShane Construction is proud to deliver this premium supportive living facility to our client, Mitch Hamblet, developer/owner of Eden Supportive Living, and to the individuals that his organization serves,” said Jeffrey Raday, president of McShane Construction. “Our firm’s extensive multi-family renovation and new construction experience was a critical component in providing a suitable living option to those who will benefit from a supportive living environment.”
