Meridian Design Build recently broke ground on a 171,670-square-foot build-to-suit for Polmax Transportation at 122nd and Central in Alsip. The 38-acre redevelopment project includes the demolition of an existing 37,000-square-foot building and site work associated with the construction of 500 leased trailer parking positions.
The completed facility will include a modern cross-dock warehouse with 68 dock positions and 20,000 square feet of office space that will serve as the corporate headquarters for the growing company. A vehicle repair facility will be constructed within the building to accommodate full service truck maintenance. Other improvements, including an onsite truck wash and diesel fueling island, will allow the company to provide a comprehensive range of services to its third-party clients.
Joe Grimes, vice president, and Bob Malachowski, superintendent, are coordinating the project for Meridian Design Build. Architectural and structural design services are being provided by areté-Knight; civil engineering work is being completed by Hoefferle-Butler.
Chuck Wiercinski, CCIM and Jim Conrad of McLennan Companies represented Polmax Transportation in the purchase of the property. Larry Johnson of CBRE represented the seller in the transaction.
