Meridian Design Build has been selected by Scannell Properties to coordinate the design and construction of a 239,000-square-foot build-to-suit facility on a 54.2 acre land site in Romeoville. The new building will serve as a ground distribution and package sorting center for Scannell’s tenant, a global provider of shipping and information services.
The company has plans to invest more than $37 million at the new facility. The new building will be located within Pinnacle Business Center, an 800 acre master-planned industrial park located just south of the Interstate 55 and Weber Road intersection.
Construction is scheduled to begin in April of this year with a fourth quarter 2012 completion. The facility will include an automated conveyor system, 101 loading docks, 390 exterior trailer storage positions, administrative offices, a control room and a computer room with emergency backup power.
Meridian Design Build’s project team is led by Pete Schmidt, senior vice president. Ryan Moore, project engineer, will be assisting with the project coordination and Fred Jennings, general superintendent, will oversee operations at the project site. Architectural services are being provided by Precept Design LLC, and civil engineering by Jacob & Hefner Associates Inc.
