From the windows of the four-story Fairfield Inn and Suites and Townplace Suites you can see the horses thundering along the track at the Harrah’s Racing and Casino in Columbus, Nebraska. A short walk in an elegant hallway from the hotel complex puts you in the glistening casino and racing venue with all its amenities.
St. Louis-based Midas Hospitality developed dual hotel concept under Marriott banner. Local family-owned Foreman Lumber built the hospitality venue which celebrated its grand opening in June.
The casino and horse racing venue came about following the passage of three Nebraska constitutional amendments in 2020, which legalized casino gambling adjacent to horse racing venues in the state. What it has lacked is a connected lodging venue, but not anymore.
“My family was approached about putting a hotel next to the casino and racetrack to enhance it as tourist attraction,” said Craig Foreman, who owns and operates Foreman Lumber with his brother Benjamin. “We met with David Robert of Midas Hospitality and his company is pretty down to earth and easy to work with. They clearly understood the value of linking the hotel to the casino for a small town like Columbus.”
The hotel caters to short-term and long-term stays with the Fairfield Inn and Suites hosting 54 rooms and the Townplace Suites hosting 48 extended-stay rooms. Guests can enjoy several amenities including:
| A fitness center; | Swimming pool; |
| High-speed internet and a business center; | Outdoor patio with outdoor grilling; |
| Same-day laundry service; | Meeting room; |
| Flex space for social gatherings; and | Complimentary breakfast. |
