Minneapolis’ Knutson Construction names president

John Curry

Minneapolis-based Knutson Construction has appointed John Curry as president. Curry is the third generation of Curry family member to lead the company. He succeeds James Benning, who recently left to pursue a new opportunity.

“On behalf of Knutson Construction, we are grateful to James for his leadership these past two and half years during a time of great change,” says John Curry, president.

Knutson offers general contracting services from preconstruction through substantial completion in sectors such as healthcare, higher education and K-12 education, recreation, hospitality, corporate, government, manufacturing, industrial and retail.

More recently, as part of the company’s strategic plan, Curry led the creation of a new role focused on customer experience. In this role, John focused on fulfilling Knutson’s vision that the customer is central to every decision and action that Knutson makes throughout the construction journey.

Curry joined Knutson in 2015 following a career in professional hockey for the Pittsburgh Penguins and Minnesota Wild organizations. Curry earned a bachelor’s degree from Boston University and holds an MBA from the University of Minnesota.
