Minnetonka, Minn.-based Opus Design Build, L.L.C has been awarded a contract by Freightquote.com to design and build the company’s new 200,000-square-foot headquarters in Kansas City, Mo.
The nation’s largest online shipping broker, Freightquote is relocating to Kansas City from its current location in Lenexa, Kan. This new office space will be designed to accommodate an expanding workforce as the company looks to grow, creating about 700 new positions within the next several years.
“We’re pleased to be working with Freightquote to deliver a facility that meets the future needs of this growing company,” said Oscar Healy, senior director, construction with Opus Design Build. “By using our integrated design-build method, time and cost efficiencies have resulted as we focus on delivering a building that can accommodate Freightquote’s expanded workforce and fulfill increased business demands.”
Built on a 30-acre site south of St. Joseph Hospital, the new facility will have convenient access to Interstate-435 at State Line Road and Wornall Road. The four-story building will feature architectural precast with glass curtain wall and punched openings and will accommodate parking for 1,500 cars.
Construction began in August of this year and is slated for completion in June of 2013.
