Chicago-based M&R Development has announced the topping off of the 42-story 73 East Lake luxury apartment high rise located at 73 E. Lake St. in Chicago’s Loop. When completed, 73 East Lake will include 332 units with 178 indoor parking spaces designed by architect Solomon Cordwell Buenz. The property will be managed by RMK Management Corp.
“The downtown apartment market has great momentum right now, so there have been a lot of eyes on our progress,” said Anthony Rossi, Sr., president of M&R Development and RMK Management Corp. “And the construction of 73 East Lake has been especially exciting because it features a design and amenity package unlike any luxury building in Chicago.”
The high-end amenities will be found on three floors of the high rise, including the 9th and 10th floor with an indoor pool, oversized spa with a waterfall, sauna and steam rooms, state-of-the-art fitness center, yoga/Pilates studio, business center and conference room, two-story cyber café, and event room, theater, and game room. The north end of the 42nd floor will have another 2,000-square-foot event room with 18-foot ceilings and east, west and north views. Additionally, the 42nd floor will feature a sundeck with views of Lake Michigan and Millennium Park, a green roof, bar-be-que area and cabanas.
“Not only will 73 East Lake offer a very impressive menu of amenities, but the fact it includes the penthouse level is an unusual benefit for renters,” noted Rossi, Sr. “The top floor of an apartment building is typically reserved for the penthouse units, but here all residents will be able to enjoy the sweeping scene of a 42nd-story view, and host family and friends to enjoy it, as well. This building will be the ultimate address for the urban young professional.”
The residences, too, are designed with a luxury urban lifestyle in mind and will include quartz kitchens with stainless steel Energy Star appliances, designer baths, computer niches, full-sized stackable washers and dryers, and 9-foot ceilings. The top 11 floors of 73 East Lake will have 9½-foot ceilings. Residences will measure from 682 to 1,246 square feet and will include studios, convertibles, and one- and two-bedroom floor plans.
Ground was broken on the development in July 2012, and first move-ins are expected in spring 2014. McHugh Construction is serving as general contractor.
