New entertainment concept coming to downtown Winnetka

Families will soon have a new destination to play, eat and gather with friends in the heart of downtown Winnetka. A multi-function entertainment complex at 552 Lincoln Avenue will offer a new toy store, video arcade and gelato store, with a central courtyard space where parents can relax while their kids explore.

The completely renovated “Winnetka Walk” is the brainchild of Hoffmann Commercial Real Estate, the largest owner of commercial properties in Winnetka. The goal is to attract local families as well as visitors to the downtown area, encouraging them to support other restaurants and retailers in the neighborhood.

The first element of the new family center will be Beat Street Toys. Opening in August, the store specializes in unique toys and gifts that the retailer describes as “off the beaten path.” In October, Beat Street will be joined by the first Illinois location of Adelheidi’s, a gelato and snack shop founded in Naples, Florida. The third phase of the development will be a classic arcade with games appealing to all ages. The arcade is awaiting approval from the Winnetka Village Council.

One novel idea for the arcade is sure to appeal to clutter-averse parents: when children earn prize tickets, they can be exchanged for coupons at Adelheidi’s and other local businesses. These special values will draw families into the community.

“We are excited to offer this new style of entertainment for families in Winnetka,” said Greg Hoffmann, CEO of Hoffmann Commercial Real Estate. “Our goal as property owners is to create cohesive, welcoming environments that support local retail and dining. The sheltered courtyard will make Winnetka Walk a comfortable and appealing community hub throughout the year.”
