Newmark Knight Frank (NKF) represented and advised K2 Express, Inc. in completing two long-term leases in Chicago’s O’Hare submarket. The first transaction was a renewal and expansion in Franklin Park, Illinois, and the second was a new, long-term lease for a neighboring, four-acre trailer yard.
K2 Express, a freight shipping and trucking company founded in 2001, signed a 91,859-square-foot renewal and expansion at 10800-10900 Belmont Avenue in Franklin Park. The space features 17 exterior docks, 48 trailer stalls, 8,000 square feet of office space and is part of a 600,000-square-foot, multi-tenant building owned by Prologis. Brian Carroll, executive managing director in NKF’s Chicago office, represented K2 Express in the transaction, while Scott Gibbel negotiated on behalf of Prologis. Cushman & Wakefield is the landlord’s agent.
In the second transaction, K2 Express signed a long-term lease for a four-acre, fenced and paved 90-stall trailer yard neighboring the property on Charles Street. Carroll represented K2 Express in the lease, while NKF vice chairmen Steve Levitas and Bob Chodos represented ownership, The Hill Group.
“We are pleased to have assisted K2 Express in re-assessing its strategy and expanding its footprint within 10800-10900 Belmont and within the O’Hare industrial market,” said Carroll. “The additional nearby trailer yard is ideal for our client, and we are pleased to have arranged both leases on their behalf.”
