On the site of a former Motel 6, a new 9,000-square-foot Portillo’s opened on Tuesday in Normal, Illinois.
Novak Construction held a ribbon cutting ceremony led by Dick Portillo and Mayor Chris Koos.
The new Portillo’s is a precast striation with brick features, architectural steel elements and a theme that highlights a 1920s Prohibition-era that will include photos of Chicago-based gangsters such as Al Capone and a vintage car suspended from the ceiling. The restaurant seats more than 200 and has a patio that is full timber construction with a standing seam roof and double drive-through lanes.
This is the sixth Portillo’s build by Novak Construction.
