East Chicago may soon see one of the area’s largest industrial projects in years.
The Northwest Indiana Times reported that Chicago-based Kelly Construction and Design is planning to develop a 14-acre industrial park at 4400 Homerlee Avenue.
NWI Times said the park, which will be known as Park 145, will be able to house one large manufacturer or its equivalent–50 smaller ones.
Plans include the development of seven buildings ranging from 13,900 square feet to 132,000 square feet depending on the tenants occupying the space. NWI Times added that they can accommodate a building up to 320,000 square feet if necessary. Plans are also in the works for a rail access to the site.
Commercial Advantage president Lori Tubbs, who will be marketing the property, said the goal is for construction to begin this summer, with tenants booked by late fall or early winter.
