The Great Lakes Region of Ryan Companies US, Inc. has announced the promotions of Nick Kaminski and Barry Sullivan. Both individuals have been promoted to team leaders from their previous positions of senior project managers.
In their roles as team leaders, Sullivan and Kaminski will be responsible for all activities on a construction project. This includes planning, organizing and directing resources; coordinating technical support services; and soliciting and serving as the primary contact with customers, architects, engineers and other parties closely involved with individual projects.
Kaminski has more than 15 years of experience, including 14 years with Ryan, primarily in the construction of medical and commercial office, retail, mixed-use and industrial properties. As a senior project manager based in southeast Wisconsin, he was responsible for overseeing estimating, budget preparation, scheduling, value engineering, subcontractor selection, project administration and profit-and-loss control.
Among the projects he is leading or has led include projects for Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Mequon, Brookfield and Delafield, Wisconsin. He also played a significant role in the development of the 90,000-square-foot Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin Orthopaedic, Sports and Spine Center and the Wisconsin Athletic Club (WAC) in Menomonee Falls, among other projects.
Kaminski, a LEED Accredited Professional, is a graduate of Iowa State University where he earned a degree in construction engineering.
Sullivan has 14 years of experience with construction project management, all of which have been at Ryan. As a Senior Project Manager, he coordinated cost estimating, design development, pre-construction and construction activities and subcontractor negotiation. He was also responsible for the supervision of construction activities to ensure Ryan’s objective of providing the best services in the industry was successfully achieved.
At Ryan, Sullivan has been part of the teams executing the construction and development of the firm’s Clarendale senior living brand as well as other senior housing projects. These projects include Clarendale of Schererville, a 177-unit senior living community now under construction and Clarendale of Mokena, a 156-unit community completed last fall. He also was involved in construction aspects of several Thomas Place senior living communities over the years.
According to Sullivan, one of the projects that has best prepared him for his role was the resort restoration following Hurricane Charley in 2004 in Captiva, Florida. Working closely with insurance companies and condo association boards to negotiate budget and scope while on a very tight timeline, Sullivan and Ryan Companies were part of an integrated team that completed the comprehensive renovations of approximately 375 condo units and common areas at the South Seas Island Resort.
Sullivan, part of Ryan’s Emerging Leader’s Group that recognizes the hard work and dedication of its young professionals, is a LEED Accredited Professional. He graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in construction engineering.
