Ryan Companies unveiled its concept for the City of St. Paul, Minnesota’s Ford Site Master Plan during an Oct. 10 presentation at Highland Park Middle School in St. Paul.
The concept is the culmination of several years of effort and thousands of hours of community conversations, research and due diligence.
In June of 2018, Ford awarded Ryan the development rights to the 122-acre site. Since the award, Ryan Companies has been engaged with city staff and the community in a series of group events where interested stakeholders shared their views on the approved plan.
“We are grateful for the community’s thoughtful feedback during the past few months,” said Tony Barranco, senior vice president of development at Ryan Companies. “We know how important this site is to St. Paul and its residents, and we take the role of building on the strong foundation of the Highland neighborhood seriously.”
The City of St. Paul’s vision for the site is to create a connected, livable, mixed-use neighborhood. The plan will include more than 50 acres of public and open space that includes a central water feature, public gathering spaces, pedestrian trails and a new grid road sytem. Private development includes retail, healthcare, office and for-sale and rental housing.
The project is expected to bring more than $1 billion of economic development to the area. Ryan says the project will create more than 14,000 construction jobs during the redevelopment and about 1,300 permanent jobs.
