Sachse Construction and its partners raised a net total of more than $210,000 from its annual Play It Foreward charity golf outing held July 9 at Fox Hills Golf & Banquet Center in Plymouth, Michigan. The money will benefit the Downtown Boxing Gym and Pewabic Pottery.

“I couldn’t be prouder that Sachse Construction has reached the milestone of $1 million in donations to local charities through our annual golf outing alone,” said Sachse chief executive officer Todd Sachse. “We feel it is within our corporate social responsibility as a company to continue to give back to local charities, such as Downtown Boxing Gym and Pewabic Pottery, who put forth such great effort and resources to supporting Detroit youth development and the arts for our local community.”

A sold-out event featuring nearly 300 participants, the 20th annual edition of Play It Foreward featured a helicopter ball drop, 18 holes of golf, continental breakfast, BBQ lunch, a networking mixer, prizes and more. All proceeds will be donated to local Detroit nonprofits Downtown Boxing Gym and Pewabic Pottery.

Downtown Boxing Gym’s Youth Program encourages “books before boxing” and empowers Detroit youth to be positive and productive members of society through education, athletics, mentoring and intervention. Pewabic Pottery makes ceramics relevant and accessible to all by supporting artistic innovation and creating meaningful learning experiences, while continuing to protect a national historic landmark.
