The 7th Annual Real Estate to the Rescue Golf Event, benefitting Save-A-Pet in Grayslake, is being held on Tuesday, September 13 at The Glen Club and is being backed by the most significant financial sponsorship in the history of the event. Additionally, the 144 slots for golfers “sold out” after one email blast, according to event organizers.
“Professionals in any industry are accustomed to participating in summer golf events to network and support their industry,” said Alissa Adler, a principal with Colliers, the creator of the Real Estate to the Rescue outing and a former board member of Save-A-Pet. “Our event takes that a step further to raises money and awareness for Save-A-Pet.”
Just ahead of the 7th Annual event, almost $325,000 has been cumulatively raised for Save-A-Pet through sponsorships, greens fees and a post golf event for Real Estate to the Rescue. To date, the sponsorship level, from more than 50 sponsors, for the event is up 75% from one year ago when, in spite of the pandemic, another record sponsorship level was secured.
Working closely with Save-A-Pet is the Real Estate to the Rescue volunteer committee of commercial real estate professionals, guided by Adler, who organize all aspects of the event.
According to Adler, while the golf portion of the event sold out quickly, there are still a handful of opportunities for sponsorships as well as the donation of raffle items and “goodie bags” for golfers. Additionally, members of the community can also attend golf reception, dinner and raffle.
Save-A-Pet, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, is one of the largest no-kill cat and dog rescues in Lake County that operates as an adoption center and is celebrating its 50th Anniversary. Since its establishment in 1972, the combination of the organization’s no-kill mission and being a good steward of the financial contributions it receives have resulted in the successful adoption of more than 66,000 dogs and cats.
“We could never have imagined the support we would receive from this event. If not for COVID-19, the trajectory of the event’s fundraising would be even stronger,” Adler said. “It is so much fun and a truly great cause. One of the highlights of the day is when some of Save-A-Pet’s newest inhabitants make an appearance to express their thanks, and perhaps even set themselves up for a future adoption.”
