Skender Construction announced that it will join the Environmental Protection Agency’s Green Power Partnership. The construction company plans to offset 100 percent of its annual Chicago office electricity use with the purchase of green power through renewable energy certificates from Renewable Choice Energy.

According to Skender, they are the only general contractor Green Power Partner in Illinois. The company joins DePaul University, Morton Arboretum and a wide variety of leading organizations committed to reducing carbon emissions.

Green power is electricity that is generated from environmentally-preferable carbon-free resources such as wind, solar, geothermal and more.

As a Green Power Partner, Skender’s Chicago headquarters has now earned enough points to pursue LEED Gold certification for commercial interiors.
