Shopping at Target is getting even better for guests in the greater Chicago area. Throughout 2018, the Minneapolis-based retailer will remodel 18 stores and open two new locations around Chicagoland. As part of its investment to become a better, more modern Target for guests, the company is elevating the shopping environment with the next generation of store design.
“Chicago is a priority for Target and we’re continuing to invest in experiences and services that our Chicagoland guests love,” said Justin Burns, Target group vice president. “In addition to being the first city in the U.S. to have all four of our delivery and pickup options, Chicago-area guests will now be delighted by the latest in store design and convenience.”
Target’s Drive Up service, which allows guests to place orders in the Target app and have their items brought to their car by a store team member, is expanding further into Chicago. Chicagoans are already the first to have Shipt, Drive Up, Target Restock and Delivery from Store all available at one time.
The Target locations around Chicago that will be remodeled are in Arlington Heights, Bolingbrook, Broadview, Chicago (Belmont Cragin), Glendale Heights, Gurnee, Highland Park, Hodgkins, Lake Zurich, Mundelein, New Lenox, Norridge, Oak Lawn, Orland Park, Schaumburg, Vernon Hills, Warrenville and Woodridge.
A new Target location opened in Evanston in March and another is slated to open in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood this month. The latter location will be a small-format store in the Wicker Park Connection II development co-developed by Chicago-based Hubbard Street Group and Centrum Realty & Development
Target opened its first Chicago-area store in 1993, and has grown to 84 stores across the metro with more than 14,000 team members. The company plans to renovate more than 1,000 stores by the end of 2020.
