Chicago-based multifamily developer and property manager, The Habitat Company, hosted its first annual day of service on Friday, Oct. 18. The firm coordinated its efforts with Feeding America member food banks, allowing Habitat team members to participate nationwide by volunteering in five cities where Habitat has operations.
“The response and engagement from our team members for our first annual day of service definitely exceeded our expectations,” said Matt Fiascone, president of The Habitat Company. “In our daily work we are dedicated to improving the communities we serve through innovation and a commitment to excellence. This is one more way we can extend that commitment—by going outside the office and the properties we manage to positively impact the communities at large in a very different way.”
Habitat teams in Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Missouri and Wisconsin collected 26,993 pounds of food and prepared 22,145 meals for families in need. Teams volunteered at Feeding Tampa Bay, the Greater Chicago Food Depository, Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan, St. Louis Area Foodbank and Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin.
