The Monroe Building has leased two full floors totaling nearly 30,000 square feet to Coeur d’Alene Mines Corp., an international gold and silver producer.
Steve Steinmeyer and Jeff Liljeberg of Jones Lang LaSalle represented the tenant in the transaction. Lenora Adds and Steve Holmberg of Cushman & Wakefield represented the building, which is now 75 percent leased.
Coeur will move its headquarters to Chicago from Idaho in September 2013 as part of a corporate restructuring. The company employs 65 people at its current headquarters and plans to hire at least 60 in Chicago.
Last year the Monroe Building completed a significant renovation that restored many original architectural elements while adding all new electrical, HVAC, security and life safety systems. The redevelopment also introduced features and amenities including a spa-like fitness center, auditorium and broadcast center, data center with server space and support, secured bicycle storage with lockers and showers, and concierge service. Retail tenants include fresh-fast eatery Pret A Manger, a Dunkin Donuts café and a full-service bank.
