The Opus Group announced the start of construction on an industrial build-to-suit in West Dundee, Illinois. WEN Power Tools, founded nearly 70 years ago and owned by Great Lakes Technologies, will relocate its headquarters to the Oakview Corporate Park near previous Opus projects, HELUKABEL and Renishaw.

The 180,623-square-foot building will be more than three times larger than their current space and will have a large, efficiently designed warehouse, a 1,900-square-foot showroom and a 4,000-square-foot office area. The building will have 21 truck dock doors, two drive-in doors and 32-foot clear height. There will also be a nearly 2,000-square-foot future office build out on the north side of the building, which WEN will lease on a short-term basis. The new headquarters has convenient access to Interstate 90.

“Our team is excited to support WEN Power Tools with a space that will suit their business objectives and growing needs,” said Jim Caesar, regional vice president of construction for Opus. “We’ve been fortunate to work with diverse clients in Oakview Corporate Park and knew we could provide a functional, efficient space for the company.”

Opus is providing development services and is the design-builder, interior designer and architect and structural engineer of record. Eric Chang from U.S. Asia Investment Group, LLC represented WEN Power Tools and Noel Liston from Darwin Realty represented Opus. The project is slated for March 2021 completion.
