The Opus Group has been hired to make improvements on a 280,000-square-foot space in Airwest Building 9 at the Plainfield Business Center in Plainfield, Ind. The space will be occupied by Ford Motor Company.

“We’re thrilled to be completing the improvements on Airwest Building 9 as Ford Motor Company expands its presence in Indiana,” said Manish Gandhi, director of project management of Opus Design Build, L.L.C., in a written statement. “Plainfield Business Center is in a prime location and offers ideal space for the automotive manufacturer’s motor parts distribution business.”

Located north of Interstate-70 and near the Indianapolis International Airport, Ford Motor Company will use Airwest Building 9 as a distribution center for automotive parts. Building improvements include constructing an office area, expanding the dock capacity with new equipment and additional doors, new lighting and paint, and upgrades to the HVAC system.

Construction is slated to begin in May of 2014 and will be completed in August of 2014.

Opus has two speculative industrial buildings currently under construction and has developed 11 prior industrial buildings at the Plainfield Business Center totaling 5.8 million square feet.

Founders Properties, L.L.C. owns Airwest Building 9 at Plainfield Business Center and negotiated the lease with Ford Motor Company. Opus Design Build, L.L.C. managed the tenant improvement contract and will be the general contractor. Opus AE Group, L.L.C. provided design services for the facility improvements.
