Food hall operator, Urbanspace, has signed a lease to bring a new food hall to Chicago’s Loop. The 12,000-square-foot facility will accommodate more than 20 vendors on the ground floor of the 15 W. Washington Building, once the home of Woolworth’s flagship store at Washington and State.

Amira Yunis, executive vice president, and Phil Golding, vice president, of CBRE Chicago’s urban retail group represented Urbanspace in the transaction. The food hall, which will be located in the heart of Chicago’s business and theater districts, is slated to open in late fall of this year.

Urbanspace, which is based out of London and New York City, previously announced that it would open a 14,000-square-foot food hall at Willis Tower in 2020. In the coming months, Urbanspace plans to announce other special events in Chicago designed to support distinctive neighborhood chefs from around the city.

“We are thrilled to be in Chicago, one of the greatest food cities in the world. We look forward to bringing a diverse group of talented chefs and smaller food entrepreneurs from Chicago’s many neighborhoods to the downtown area,” said Eldon Scott, president of Urbanspace. “Each of our food halls is unique to the neighborhood where they are located. 15 W. Washington will have a different vibe than Willis Tower. Both locations will be places where creativity and community can thrive in beautiful spaces with some of the most talented chefs in the city serving great food.”
