Western Specialty Contractors’ Minneapolis branch completed a project to repair one of the original granite planters at the Colonnade Office Tower in Golden Valley, Minnesota.
Located just outside of downtown Minneapolis at 550 Wayzata Blvd., the Colonnade is a 355,000-square-foot, 16-story office building originally constructed in 1988 and renovated in 2024.
One of the existing granite planters at the building’s front entrance was damaged during a snow removal event. Commercial real estate management firm Eagle Ridge Partners contracted with Western to perform the necessary repairs.
Western’s master masons inspected the planter’s damage and replaced the following sections using stock granite panels available from the building’s original construction:
- Four 36” x 36” wall panels
- Two 12” x 48” cap panels
Western also reset three wall panels on the planter that were displaced but not broken and performed a two-square-foot Dutchman repair.
Western was able to restore the planter to its original condition within four days, and under budget to the owner’s satisfaction.
