WeWork is expanding its Chicago presence with a new 53,000-square-foot location at 1 South Dearborn and an approximately 140,000-square-foot space at 167 North Green Street. These will be the co-working outfit’s tenth and eleventh locations in Chicago, adding to the 930,000 square feet it currently occupies in River North, the Loop and Fulton Market.
At 1 South Dearborn, WeWork will occupy floors 20 and 21. WeWork members will receive 24/7 building access, micro-roasted coffee, community events and dedicated on-site staff. Building amenities include an on-site fitness center, concierge dry cleaning lockers and a tenant bike share program. WeWork 1 South Dearborn is expected to open in September 2019.
WeWork will occupy three floors at 167 North Green Street in Fulton Market, with a planned opening in mid-2021. Developed by a joint venture of Shapack Partners and Focus Development, 167 North Green Street will feature building amenities including dog-friendly offices, an outdoor penthouse rooftop and indoor lounge, a town hall space that converts to a basketball court, a full-service gym and an indoor bike garage, in addition to the WeWork member benefits previously mentioned.
“WeWork provides access to vibrant, professional spaces and new ways of working for businesses of all sizes,” said Megan Dodds, Midwest general manager for WeWork “With the addition of these two new locations, WeWork members have greater access to a campus-like ecosystem linking together innovative workspaces that allow them to cut their commute or meet a client in the area most convenient to them.”
Both WeWork 1 South Dearborn and 167 North Green Street will provide workspace solutions for businesses of all sizes ranging from a small business to a high-growth start-up to a Fortune 500 company. In fact, one-third of the Fortune 500 are WeWork members globally, and enterprise members make up more than 30 percent of WeWork’s global membership.
