The developers behind the Lincoln Common mixed-use development in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood have tapped Zimmerman Weintraub Associates (ZWA) as architect for the project’s new Equinox facility. Tentatively set for a late summer 2019 opening, Equinox will anchor the property’s largest space, alongside residential, office and retail uses.

Hines and McCaffery Interests, the developers of Lincoln Common, selected Chicago-based ZWA to act as the architect of record on the new Equinox, which will be located at 2355 N. Lincoln Avenue. The facility will be housed within a complex which includes two, 20-story residential towers, a six-story office building, as well as retail in what will be Lincoln Park’s largest retail development.

Among the stand-out features at the club will be acoustically isolated exercise studios, accomplished by a “floating” concrete slab floor which sits atop rubber and metal spring isolators. The gym will also include a regulation-length, saltwater lap pool, as well as other amenities. ZWA will work with Equinox’s internal design team and interior designers Meyer Davis on the two-floor, 33,000 square foot project.

Lincoln Common is comprised of residential housing, office, dining, fitness and retail spaces. The project seeks to create a one-stop destination for top dining and retail in the Chicago North Side neighborhood of Lincoln Park. The development is centrally located in Lincoln Park at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue, Fullerton Avenue and Halsted Street.
