DJ Effler has been promoted to president of Bellwether Enterprise Real Estate Capital LLC, the commercial and multifamily mortgage banking subsidiary of Enterprise Community Investment Inc. The move is effective on Jan. 1 of next year.
Ned Huffman will continue to serve as chief executive officer and work closely with Effler through the transition and in his new role as president.
“It’s an exciting time to help lead Bellwether Enterprise, especially as we continue to expand market share across the country,” said Effler. “I’ve had the great fortune to be a member of the Bellwether Enterprise family for nearly a decade. I plan to continue to support our high-performance culture and strong work-life balance and maintain an environment that is transparent, collaborative and rewarding for our employees and our partners. Our collective efforts help support Enterprise Community Partners, an incredibly impactful nonprofit addressing America’s affordable housing crisis head-on.”
In his new role, Effler will focus primarily on executing strategies and goals developed with the executive team, including leading new company-wide initiatives. He will also work with senior leaders on future acquisitions and lift out activities, while helping drive production across the firm.
Effler’s career in commercial real estate investments spans nearly two decades, including experience as both a lender and an equity investor. He is well-versed in all property types, and is especially active in the multifamily and hospitality sectors. Effler also brings critical partnerships in the capital markets space to the role, including with Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, Life Insurance Companies, CMBS, debt funds, banks and additional unique subordinate capital sources.
Effler has been a top producer at Bellwether Enterprise since 2015. Prior to joining Bellwether Enterprise, he served as vice president of both the Investment and Capital Markets Groups at RockBridge Capital LLC, a leading private equity firm focused on providing subordinate debt and equity to the hospitality industry. He began his career with Nationwide in Columbus Ohio after he earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from Miami University in Oxford, OH.
