Milwaukee-area shoppers will soon have plenty of new shopping and dining options: That’s because demolition work has started on The Corners of Brookfield, a 750,000-square-foot lifestyle center in Brookfield, Wis.

The new center will sit on about 19 acres of land off Interstate-94. A formal ground-breaking of the project is scheduled for the Spring of 2015, with the center expected to open for business in the Fall of 2016.

The Marcus Corporation initiated the development of this major project, and has since entered into a joint agreement with IM Properties and Bradford Real Estate. The three will now guide The Corners of Brookfield to its opening date.

The $200 million development will include 400,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space and 235 luxury apartments that will be managed by Milwaukee’s Mandel Group. A Von Maur clothing store will anchor the development with a 140,000-square-foot store.

It’s little surprise that officials with the town of Brookfield are excited about the development. They estimate that The Corners of Brookfield will generate annual sales tax revenue of more than $8 million based on $157 million in total annual retail and restaurant sales.
