Chicago-based Fifield Companies has signed leases with three restaurants and one retailer to occupy ground-floor space at Logan Apartments, located at 2480–2522 N. Milwaukee Avenue, in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood. Big Wig Tacos, Jersey Mike’s Subs, K-Fire Korean BBQ and Verizon will occupy a combined total of 6,800 square feet.

“The ground-floor retail at Logan Apartments is as much about serving the surrounding neighborhood as it is about offering convenience to building residents, and the mix of retailers is shaping up to meet the needs of all those who live and work across this fast-growing neighborhood,” said Lindsey Senn, executive vice president at Fifield Cos., co-developer with Terraco Real Estate of the 220-unit, transit-oriented development. “These retailers have chosen Logan Square because of its growth, as well as the strong neighborhood vibe that engages current residents and attracts new ones.”

The Big Wig Tacos at Logan Apartments will be the second location for the fast-casual taco and burrito restaurant specializing in classic Mexican street fare with premium ingredients, offering dine-in, pick-up and delivery. Its 2,200-square-foot space will be at 2490 N. Milwaukee Avenue. Jersey Mike’s Subs, the national sandwich chain, will occupy approximately 1,500 square feet at 2494 N. Milwaukee Avenue. Owned by neighborhood residents, this location with be the company’s first in Logan Square.

Verizon will occupy a 1,300-square-foot store at 2482 N. Milwaukee Avenue, its first location in Logan Square. Finally, the classically trained chef at K-Fire Korean BBQ—a quick-serve, chef-driven restaurant focusing on Korean grilled meat dishes and bento-style plates—is opening this first location at 2528 N. Milwaukee Avenue with approximately 1,750 square feet of space. The new retailers join Target Corp., which signed a lease last year for a 27,000-square-foot, small-format store that will serve as the building’s retail anchor.

“As one of the city’s most vibrant and diverse neighborhoods, Logan Square is the ideal spot for our first restaurant,” said Ben Kim, founder and chef of K-Fire Korean BBQ. “When it came to choosing a specific space, Logan Apartments stood out not only due to its prime location along Milwaukee Avenue, just steps from the Blue Line, but also because of the connection it is creating with the surrounding community.”

Logan Apartments, which opens spring 2020 and sits on the site of the former Mega Mall, features a mix of studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments with luxury finishes like high ceilings, plank flooring, gourmet kitchens, in-unit laundry and walk-in closets with organizational systems. The project will incorporate salvaged pieces form the Mega Mall, as well as works from local artists, decorative fixtures and finishes from local artisans and antiques sourced from the neighborhood.

Amenities at Logan Apartments include a landscaped sun terrace with a pool, cabanas, grilling stations, bocce ball court, fire pit, lounge areas and a dog run; resident lounge, party room and coffee bar; fitness club with state-of-the-art equipment and dedicated coworking space with a conference center. Located along the Milwaukee Avenue bike corridor, the building will also offer a secure bike room with approximately 125 spots and a bike “kitchen” for maintenance and repairs. The building is also one block from the CTA Logan Square Blue Line and near multiple bus routes.
