Grant Thornton has appointed Jim Brady as the firm’s chief operating officer. Brady will continue to report to Grant Thornton Chief Executive Officer Mike McGuire, and will be involved in all office operations both nationally and for Grant Thornton’s Central and East regions. He will also lead Grant Thornton’s Public Policy team.
Brady joined Grant Thornton in June 2015 as the firm’s Central region managing partner and a member of its Senior Leadership Team – responsibilities he will retain in his new role. He will be based in the firm’s Chicago headquarters.
Prior to joining Grant Thornton last year, Brady served as Deloitte LLP’s national managing partner for U.S. Government Affairs & Public Policy – and also served as CEO of the firm’s U.S.-India audit and advisory joint venture.
He has 35 years of experience in professional services, including 22 as a partner serving Fortune 1000 companies. He has extensive experience auditing both large and medium-sized public and private companies. Brady also spent several years as regional managing partner building audit and advisory practices in Deloitte’s Southeast geography.
Brady is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He serves on the boards of trustees at the Chautauqua Institution and the Graduate Management Admission Council. He serves on the Center for Strategic and International Studies Advisory Board and The Carter Center Board of Councilors. He also serves on the board of directors for World Business Chicago and is a member of the Wake Forest University School of Business Board of Visitors.
Brady received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Bryant University in Smithfield, Rhode Island.
