Heitman appoints new chief technology officer

Heitman LLC, a global real estate investment management firm, has hired Peeyush Shukla as its chief information and technology officer. In this role, Shukla will be responsible for leading Heitman’s Information Technology initiatives and infrastructure group in support of its global investment management business.

Shukla will also serve on Heitman’s global management committee and report directly to Maury R. Tognarelli, Heitman CEO. He will be based in the firm’s Chicago headquarters.

“Peeyush’s extensive experience with multi-asset solutions technology, data strategy and business analytics complements and enhances the skills of our seasoned technology and infrastructure team,” said Tognarelli. “Peeyush joins us at a pivotal time in Heitman’s evolution and is charged with supporting the firm’s global investment management business by activating its vast data and business intelligence analytics capabilities through strategically using next generation technology solutions.”

Prior to joining Heitman, Shukla was managing director, data strategy, analytics and multi-asset solutions technology at Nuveen Investments. In that role, he was responsible for creating the technology strategy and roadmap for a multi-year, multi-phase, cross-functional effort to develop a cloud-based platform for data management, investment management and performance and risk management. In his career, he has also held senior technology roles with Mesirow Advanced Strategies, Inc. and Solo Cup and served as a technology consultant at Fimat USA and Cambridge Technology Partners.

Shukla has a master’s in computer science from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (Pilani, India) and his MBA in finance and strategy from Northwestern University. He is a CFA Charterholder and a Financial Risk Manager (FRM).
