Brian Kuehl and R.J. Neary of Investors Realty, Inc. represented television station KETV in the purchase of the 40,000-plus square foot Burlington train station at 1001 South 10th Street in Omaha.
KETV looked at more than 30 properties for more than two years before selecting the perfect location for its new studios. The station decided on the most challenging of all the options but felt a responsibility to invest in the Omaha community and bring an iconic structure back to life. Kuehl was creative and worked diligently with the city, the railroad and KETV to ensure this deal was a good fit. KETV is owned by Hearst Television, Inc.
After several owners and failed attempts to revitalize the 115-year-old station, it will finally find a new purpose. The multi-million dollar renovation is expected to be completed in 2015 and will preserve the original façade and provide an expandable infrastructure for future growth in operations and technology.
This facility will also accommodate parking for all news vehicles, satellite trucks, employees and guests. The project is a good anchor for the Old Market neighborhood and will greatly improve the look of the two-acre site south of the 10th Street Bridge.
