
Kansas City, Missouri-based Hunt Midwest hired Heather Jones as General Counsel and Senior Vice President as the real estate development company continues its growth in key U.S. markets.
In the newly created role, Jones will work to scale the company’s strategies and staff to support its expanding reach across diverse sectors including industrial, commercial, self-storage development, new home communities, multifamily, and senior living.
Prior to joining Hunt Midwest, Jones previously worked for more than 20 years as a partner, shareholder, and executive committee member with the Kansas City law firm Seigfreid Bingham, P.C., where she played a crucial role as Hunt Midwest’s outside legal counsel on key development projects, leases, property sales, and land acquisitions.
Jones will serve as the company’s General Counsel, providing strategic legal guidance on company real estate contracts, leases, title work, loan transactions, compliance, and corporate governance. She also will work closely with senior leadership and the board of directors to execute companywide strategies. Over the next nine to 12 months, the new role also will assume responsibility for the company’s administrative functions, including human resources and corporate communications.
Jones is deeply involved in the greater Kansas City community. A passionate supporter of the arts, she currently serves on the Starlight Theatre Board of Directors as the vice chair for community engagement and on the Board of Directors for the Liberty Arts Foundation, and she previously led the Liberty Arts Commission. Jones also is an active member of numerous bar associations and previously served as the President of the Lawyers Association of Kansas City. Further, she is a graduate of the Centurions leadership program through the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce and the Northland Regional Chamber of Commerce leadership program. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois and her law degree from the University of Kansas. She lives with her family in the Liberty area.
