Kansas City’s Hunt Midwest enjoyed a record year in 2014, with the company’s SubTropolis underground business park adding 900,000 square feet of leased space to its footprint.
“We saw unprecedented gains in both commercial and residential activity,” said Ora Reynolds, president of Hunt Midwest, in a statement. “I am so proud of our team, which seized the opportunity in 2014 and delivered the best results in Hunt Midwest’s history.”
Several big deals spurred the growth in the company’s SubTroplis underground park.
Ford upfitter Legget & Platt Commercial Vehicle Products leased 72,000 square feet. Restaurant supplier FoodServiceWarehous.com leased 475,200 square feet, while the National Archives and Records Administration tripled its footprint, adding 202,000 square feet for a total of 304,000 square feet.
Also in 2014, Hunt Midwest opened the SubTropolis Technology Center, a data center project anchored by Des Moines, Iowa-based LightEdge Solutions. Four fiber carriers are plugged into SubTropolis and the technology center.
