Starting this year, Kansas City, Mo.-based construction firm McCownGordon has become 100 percent employee-owned.
The company launched a 100 percent Employee Stock Ownership Plan on Jan. 1.
McCownGordon was founded in 1999 by Pat McCown, chief executive officer, and Brett Gordon, president. The company runs offices in both Kansas and Missouri.
“The decision to implement a 100 percent ESOP for the company was to ensure the entire team had the opportunity to share the company’s success,” Gordon said in a written statement. “We have always made significant investments in our team over the years, and this was a natural fit for our company.”
