LADCO Development, North Kansas City team up to redevelop 58-acre parcel in Missouri

Plans to renovate a formerly underused parcel of land — one covering more than 50 acres — in North Kansas City, Mo., are on schedule thanks to an agreement between the city and a Kansas developer.

And this only means good news for this Missouri city.

The city council of North Kansas City on May 17 approved a pre-development agreement with LADCO Development, the next step toward a private-public partnership for a mixed-use redevelopment area of about 58 acres located at the Interstate-35 and Armour Road interchange in North Kansas City.

LADCO, a real estate development firm with offices in Overland Park, Kan., and Des Moines, Iowa, is now working on laying out a preliminary site plan, identifying key tenants and finalizing the plan’s details.

The agreement with LADCO comes after the City of North Kansas City has assembled parcels and removed blighted structures in the redevelopment area. Site work on the redevelopment is expected to begin late this year.

North Kansas City officials hope to see a mixed-use or high-volume retail development at the site. This makes sense; more than 120,000 cars drive by the site on a daily basis.

“The redevelopment project represents the opportunity to provide additional amenities for North Kansas City residents and the surrounding community,” said William Biggerstaff, mayor of North Kansas City. “Quality development further enhances the overall quality of life in our community.”
