Make-A-Wish Illinois, the non-profit organization that grants the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses, is renewing and expanding its lease at 640 N. LaSalle St., where the charity plans to increase its footprint by approximately 80 percent to 10,787 square feet. The organization last expanded its Chicago office in 2003.
Melissa Rubenstein and Brian Atkinson of Jones Lang LaSalle represented the building’s owner, MAC Management Co. Inc., in the transaction, bringing the overall occupancy rate in the building to more than 90 percent. The seven-story 640 N. LaSalle building sits on one full city block between LaSalle, Ontario, Wells and Erie streets. A 6,000-square-foot space and a 17,000-square-foot space are currently available for lease.
Make-A-Wish Illinois has been a tenant in the building since the local chapter’s founding in 1988, when it leased approximately 995 square feet. Since then, the group has expanded its footprint five times. This expansion is the largest so far for one of the nation’s largest Make-A-Wish chapters. The new lease for 10,787 square feet commences in March 2013.
Connor Kerr and Lisa Konieczka of CBRE represented the Make-A-Wish Foundation in the transaction.
