The City of Belton, Missouri, has approved a new 83-room, four-story Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott located just north of Highway-58 between Mullen Road and Interstate-49.

Salina Hotel Corp. will begin construction by the end of the year on the 48,000-square-foot hotel project, with a targeted opening by the end of 2018. The project includes construction of a new east-west access road adjacent to existing retail development to the south. The new road will be constructed with funds from a newly established Community Improvement District.

Shamir Bhakta, Salina Hotel Corp. regional manager, said the hotel development firm believes the project will be a great fit for Belton as well as Cass County.

Project partners include City of Belton, Mo.; Belton Economic Development; and Salina Hotel Corp. Additional retail pad sites are available just west of the hotel project.
